What is shaping the UAE beauty market heading into 2027
Fragrance exports, skin longevity and a fast-growing Saudi market: the shifts we are watching as brands and buyers plan for next year.
The Gulf used to be described as a market that follows global beauty trends. That is changing. Here are the shifts we are paying most attention to as brands and buyers plan for 2027.
1. The UAE is a fragrance exporter
A BeautyMatter report published in August places the UAE among the world's ten largest perfume exporters by value, with fragrance exports up nearly seven-fold over the past decade. The country has an estimated 800 perfume manufacturing units, and Jebel Ali Port connects to more than 150 ports. For brands, that means the UAE works as a base for regional and international distribution, not only as a place to sell.
2. Skin longevity and wellness
Dubai set up a Longevity Authority in June 2026, and Global Wellness Institute data ranks the UAE and Saudi Arabia first and second for wellness-market growth over five years. In skincare, that translates into demand for products positioned on long-term skin health rather than quick fixes — the space where clinical and dermocosmetic brands are strongest.
3. What ingredient makers are building for
Croda, one of the world's largest beauty ingredient suppliers, names five trends shaping product development through 2026 and 2027: supercharged skincare, fragrance in hair care, SPF-boosted sun care, skin longevity and bond-building hair care. Several of these fit the UAE climate and consumer particularly well — sun protection and hair repair are year-round needs here.
4. Saudi Arabia is the next growth market
Saudi per-capita beauty spending is estimated at US$164.90, and global groups are investing on the ground: L'Oréal opened its fifth professional hairdressing academy in the Kingdom in May 2026. Brands that build a solid base in the UAE are well placed to follow demand into Saudi Arabia and the rest of the GCC.
What this means for brands
Skincare with a clear clinical story, fragrance, sun care and hair repair are the categories where we see the strongest buyer interest.
